BUNTWANI LOCALLY: GLOBAL GOALS FOR LOCAL IMPACT

1
The Open Institute have organised a Buntwani-locally event to take place in Lanet Umoja in Nakuru County, Kenya on December 3 and 4, 2015. Jointly organised with the  “Tweeting Chief” Chief Francis Kariuki (@chiefkariuki), the event will be held to bring stakeholders around the community of 29,000 people to understand out how the Global Goals could be implemented within their community.
Chief Kariuki and the Open Institute have shared the view that the Global Goals can best be implemented at community level, where each community comes together with its stakeholders to appreciate the specific Global Goals challenges that impact them directly as priorities, and to set community SDG targets. At this event, the stakeholders will achieve the following key objectives:-
  • Develop a data baseline for Lanet Umoja
  • Develop an adaptable model that can be replicated at local level in other communities.
  • Appreciate SDG priorities for the community
  • Set 2 year SDG targets for the community
The Two day event will take place at Lanet-Umoja Primary School and will involve the training of up-to 300 cluster leaders.
Date: 3rd and 4th December 2015
Venue: Lanet-Umoja Primary School, Nakuru, Kenya
This event forms part of the Buntwani event series. Managed by TechSoup Global and Open Institute, Buntwani is an action network for strengthening citizen participation and good governance. It aims to be a conversation starter and facilitator among various stakeholders actively involved and/or interested in the potential of ICT in strengthening citizen engagement and participation in Africa.
